About The Book

Life is Change. Life is Chance.
Life can also be what you make of it.

After spending my last 58 years on this planet as a student at the School of Hard Knocks, I decided to jot down—spill my guts, really—all the pain and joy I've experienced throughout life.

And I decided to call this little gem of wisdom The Way of the Ray.

Starting with the trials and tribulations that formed my existence here on Mother Earth, I try to dissect and explain why I came to be where I am in life. And maybe how you, with a little understanding of your fellow humans, can make a path for yourself in this crazy and less than perfect world.

Inside this novel, you'll find faith, heartache, and inspiration. You'll also find some lost relationships and some that have lasted a lifetime.

Most of all, though, I hope you'll find your own way to a lifetime of happiness.

Excerpts

----------------------------------------------------------

I guess you could say that the moral of this little tale is that, yes, it’s easier to make holes in fences than it is to mend them. One is easy, and the other can be quite hard at times. But, when it comes down to it, doing the latter is more satisfying …

And it’s definitely more fun than a poke in the eye.

----------------------------------------------------------

By the way, I’m not just talking about politics. I’ve seen the same happen in companies I’ve worked for. A strong personality steps forward – someone with power and influence in you or your job – and tells you that you need to think a certain way or do a certain thing that you know is wrong. Of course, you go along with it because you don’t want to lose that position or bonus, or comradery. But, in doing that wrong thing or thinking that incorrect thought, what do you really lose?

You, my friend … you end up losing yourself.

----------------------------------------------------------

Having relayed all that, it brings us to the meaning of this chapter. It’s plain … and it’s simple … and something you should always try to do.

No matter what anyone says, or anyone thinks. No matter if you’re part of a group or the only one with a dissenting position. No matter what the Trumps of this world try to put in your head …

Always strive to be your own person.

It may not be the easiest route sometimes. In fact, it might even be an uphill battle. But, as the saying goes, “Nothing good comes easy.”

I assure you, you’ll always feel better doing it … no matter the cost.

Very introspective and discussion worthy. Didn’t always agree with the author but he presents so much in a logical way it was hard not to be impressed.

Sensational, humorous, and raw, The Way of The Ray gives readers some deep life lessons while keeping them hooked with several engaging and funny stories. After reading the book, I found my mind continuously returning to some peculiar events in it … which I found quite relatable. In addition to being witty, expressive, and easy to follow, Michael S. Vassel's writing displays an exemplary level of introspectiveness and self-awareness. Whether you are trying to figure life out or you believe you have it all figured out, you will find something new to learn about faith, friendship, family, setting boundaries, discipline, marriage, and other key life areas in The Way of The Ray.

As always, this author delivers. The entire book reads like you’re sitting at a bar with your buddy discussing life, death, and silly minutia. Talk about heartfelt. It’s one thing to reveal personal details In works of fiction like he has in his previous works (fiction is fiction, right?). In this book he reveals his true self. I’m not sure that the ideas presented should be considered a new religion exactly (nor are they probably intended to be) but they’re fresh and in tune with life in 2022. If you’re looking for answers on if there is a God and if so, what to believe, this book is for you.
